Lewisham Heritage Plaque Unveiling

Join us on Sunday 31 May 2026 as we unveil a brand new Lewisham Heritage Maroon Plaque commemorating the history and heritage of the Deptford Ragged School.

The Lewisham Maroon Plaques scheme celebrates the remarkable endeavours and achievements of its former residents and commemorates significant historical events that have occurred in the borough.

​

The Educating Deptford plaque will be installed on The Bear Church in Frankham Street, Deptford, SE8 4RN, a location that has a long history connected to the original Deptford Ragged School established in 1844.

Itinerary

• 10.30-11.30am: Service of Celebration and Commemoration in The Bear Church

• 11.30-12.00: Free Refreshments

• 12.00-12.30pm: Speeches and Unveiling

• 12.30-1.00pm: Free Refreshments​
